Cherry Cobbler

Simply wonderful!

1 cup flour     
1 cup sugar, divided   
3 teaspoons baking powder     
1/2 cup milk
1 tablespoon melted margarine
1 can sour cherries

Combine flour, 1/2 cup sugar, and baking powder.  Mix well.  Blend milk and margarine.  Stir into flour mixture until moistened.  Pour batter into a 9-inch baking pan.  Combine cherries, juice, and remaining sugar in a saucepan.  Bring to a boil.  Pour hot sweetened cherries over batter.  Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden.  Serves 9.

  Having the cherries hot speeds this up, but be sure to use potholders putting it into the oven, or fill at oven.
