Don’s Secret Recipe for Spaghetti

11/2 pounds ground beef
3 tablespoons butter
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon sugar
3 (8-ounce) cans tomato sauce
1 (12-ounce) package noodles
1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese
2 cups sour cream
6–8 scallions, chopped
1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese

Brown ground beef in butter.  Add garlic powder, salt, pepper, sugar, and tomato sauce.  Cover with lid, and simmer for 20 minutes.  Cook noodles in boiling salted water according to package directions.  Drain.  Mix softened cream cheese with sour cream and scallions.  In buttered casserole, layer noodles, cream cheese mixture, and ground beef sauce.  Repeat.  Sprinkle top with grated cheese. 

Bake at 350° until hot and bubbly in center.  Freezes beautifully.  Serves 6.
