My Chocolate Cake

Awesome cake! Best frosting there is! A treat to lick the bowl and beaters, that's for sure.

Ingredients:
1 cup butter
3 cups packed brown sugar
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1 tablespoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1 1/2 cups boiling water

Directions:

In mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar; add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream, beating well after each addition. Stir in water until well blended. Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.

Frosting:
 
1/2 cup butter 
3 squares sweet baking chocolate 
3 squares semi-sweet baking chocolate 
5 cups powdered sugar 
1 cup sour cream 
2 teaspoons vanilla extract 


Directions:

In saucepan, melt butter and chocolates over low heat. Cool. In mixing bowl, combine sugar, sour cream, and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture, and beat until smooth. Frost cooled cake. Makes 15 servings.
