Reona Visser earned her HED, a higher education diploma, in 1986 at Wellington’s Teachers’ Training College in South Africa. (This four-year course equals a Bachelor Degree in the USA.) She majored in English and Science. Reona Visser started teaching at a school in South Africa in 1987 and has taught ever since then. Throughout the years she has taught grades 4-8. Reona Visser currently teaches 5th grade at Coast Episcopal School in Longbeach, Mississippi and resides in Diamondhead, Mississippi with her husband Gideon and two daughters, Enya-Marie and Lara-Elizabeth. Story of a Storm is a picture book by Reona Visser and the children of the Mississippi Gulf Coast about Hurrican Katrina and its effets on cities, families, and countless individual lives.
