Dr. Joyce Meek Yates (right) has spent over 25 years
instructing and inspiring others to be physically fit and healthy. From her current job as Associate Professor of Health and
Kenisiology at Mississippi University for Women to her long-time business, Joyce Yates’ School of Dance, Dr. Yates uses
her simple approach to fitness to guide students of all ages.
Dr. Yates received a Bachelor of Science in Physical
Education from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Education and Doctorate of Education from Mississippi State University.
In her spare time, Dr. Yates is active as a Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church of Eupora and in the past
has worked with Acteens and children in mission activities. She is involved in promoting health and wellness on the Mississippi
University for Women campus and the Columbus community. She resides in Eupora with husband Bill. They have three children.
